Senior Tax Analyst

THE ROLE:

AMD is seeking a full-time Senior Tax Analyst to join the tax team in our Santa Clara office. This position will be passionate about the global tax provision and US federal and state income tax compliance process with some exposure to international taxes.

The person:

We are searching for an individual that is passionate about tax compliance and wants to continue to learn, develop and progress in corporate income taxes.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support tax compliance processes related to corporate tax for a US multi-national company
  • Gather data and prepare or review federal, state, and foreign tax work papers for a sophisticated group of legal entities
  • Prepare the quarterly and annual global income tax provision work papers and assist with responses to questions and inquiries from the financial statement auditors
  • Assist in computing and detailing the US R&D Credit
  • Analyze financial statements and other financial data, specifically as they relate to tax compliance and tax planning
  • Perform tax technical research demonstrating electronic research services and detail the positions in memos or work papers to support tax accounting positions or return filing positions
  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and lead the worldwide tax accounts for the tax account roll forward
  • Provide outstanding client service to the tax and finance departments and businesses by being timely and responsive
  • Stay current with changes in US income tax law and US GAAPStay current with changes in tax law and changes in US GAAP
  • Support continuous improvements in tax provision processes by exercising out of the box thinking to optimize efficiency
  • Participate in special tax projects as needed

Preferred experience:

  • Industry tax experience for a technology company or Big 4 accounting firm tax experience
  • Preference for someone who has experience in Big 4 public accounting
  • Understanding and working knowledge of US GAAP accounting for income taxes (ASC 740) and preferable experience preparing a tax provision for a company without a valuation allowance
  • Understanding and working knowledge of uncertain tax positions, FIN 48
  • Experience in balancing and proving deferred tax assets/liabilities
  • Experience in preparing the return to provision work papers and analysis
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule as required to collaborate closely with foreign colleagues in different time zones
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong MS Excel skills required
  • Experience in PowerPoint is a plus
  • Experience with SAP enterprise software
  • Experience in international tax or R&D credit and related compliance is a plus

Academic Credentials:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Masters in Tax from an accredited university preferred
  • CPA is strongly preferred, can be inactive
