Ubisoft Milan is looking for a talented Tech Artist who will work closely with artists and programmers to help with asset and pipeline optimizations. The Tech Artist will participate in the implementation of technical art features and will perform debugging on tools and processes.
In particular, the responsibilities will be the following:
- Realize high visual benchmarks, optimized and by respecting the technical constraints;
- Test the chosen engine, develop or ask for development if needed;
- Help and support the Artistic Director and the Technical Director in his graphic development choices based on his own artistic and technical expertise;
- Use the best tools and methods for improving and facilitating the graphic workload;
- Share best practices, give training sessions for every team member to ensure correct tools and methods are used;
- Integrate, validate and optimize graphic data in the engine by using scripts if needed;
- Ensure that graphic bugs are fixed according to their priorities and Provide support to the other artists;
- Carry out all other related tasks.
- BA in art media, graphic design or equivalent relevant experience.
- Extensive knowledge in game development, including Modeling & Texturing, Scripting/Tools Development, Lighting, Shaders, VFX Rendering & Post Processing. Strong understanding of the Graphic Rendering Pipeline for next-gen technologies.
- Experience working with game engines (Unreal, Unity, etc.).
- Strong technical background in the art production process and workflows, with programming knowledge.
- Expertise in 3D development software (3DS Max, Maya, Blender, Houdini).
- Experience in 2D development software (Substance Painter, Substance Designer).
- Eagerness to learn and implement new next-gen technologies for games.
- Ability to work under pressure, quickly learn new skills, and foster strong relationships within the team.
- Experience in cross-disciplinary collaboration between artists, programmers, and technical directors.
- Strong organization skills and ability to manage complex workflows.
- Creative problem-solving and innovation.
- Written and oral English.
